I’m not even really a Dean/Cas shipper but if someone had asked me how Dean would declare being in love with someone I probably would have said “Tell them their better together and make them a mixtape”

Like I said, there’s different love languages going on here, and Cas and Dean are talking completely past each other. Dean expresses love as acts of service, protection and meaningful gestures. He never says it out loud, and his words and surface actions are often completely contrary to his actual feelings. Dean RECEIVES love via people just staying and allowing him to love them.

Cas is the most literal bean ever. He shows love through protecting people, going things for them and shielding them – like an angel is meant to do. He’s a protector, a warrior. 

So when they two of them are doing their utmost to tell the other “hey, I love you” they both utterly miss the point.

And poor Sam is just there in the back yelling “USE YOUR WORDS YOU IDIOTS.”
