Also interesting: there are 6 RPS on this list, most from relatively large/widespread fandoms (One Direction) or with big-name celebrities (Taylor Swift and Karli Kloss). And yet there’s Misha and Jensen keeping company with folks who have sheer numbers on their side.
It doesn’t make us any better or any more right (we’re right), but it suggests a much larger proportion of the fandom in general is behind this ship (and tagging frantically). Well done, team. Very well done.
I’m mostly fascinated that Cockles runs that close to Sabriel content. I mean it’s no secret to fandom that Destiel is a huge phenomenon, but Sabriel keeps fairly close company (while not being totally mutual) and generally, RPS isn’t as widely accepted as, say … well, actual fiction ships due to moral holdoffs and social reservation against it. So to say, “The concept of RPS ship Cockles is the size of Sabriel, the second largest ship in the fandom” is… actually pretty big lmao. I don’t even go here but I’ll give accolades where accolades is due. They all outperformed other supposedly ancient huge ships, such as Wincest, which didn’t make the list, much less J2.
In b4 J2 hats or Wincest shippers start trying to whine about crosstagging being responsible, which they’re actually a bigger criminal in than anything, with no explanation on why they didn’t even clip the top 100 in the fictional ship ahoyhoy.

but j2 and wincest? around for going on 14 years? suspiciously missing.

but yeah despite numerous data collections, analysis, polls, etc etc etc, the myth of destiel fans being 1% still clings on.
i mean, i got so bored proving positive engagement numbers vs negative on official tweets, i stopped only two episodes in this season. they’re THAT insignificant in numbers.
and a note i wanted to add about sabriel: it’s such a tiny ship, it’s nearly a rare-pair. one half of the pair was presumed dead until the 2017-2018 tv season and even then he’s now been presumed dead (I WANNA BELIEVE OK HES NOT DEAD JUST LIKE EILEEN ISNT) since like may. and yet despite one character missing, it still managed to get a spot on the list.
His mother may be suspicious of his whereabouts on and around the time of Princess Diana’s tragic accident, but she must be proud her son John Mulaney made it this high up on the Actors list.

However, BuckLeming has been strangely solid for themselves this year. Short of some mechanical dialogue explaining everyone parting ways in 14.02, it was a solidly good episode, and we’ve heard that 14.07 will be some of their best writing to date.
I’ll just let everybody I know yell about this.

1) I don’t know if Misha is talking about the same scene as Eugenie.
2) Misha didn’t think if there was going to be DeanCas in 300. So this is for sure not about them going canon. Please manage your expectations and enjoy what we get.
3) Unhuman Nature is definitely one of if not THE best that Brad And Eugenie have written. There’s some “ugh Buckleming” stuff but that’s all in Nick’s bits. The Dean, Jack, Cas, Sam is the best most emotional stuff of the season.
I… don’t recall posting anything about canon lines. In fact, I hold a different canon line than most people in fandom already. But everybody’s been up in arms over the lack of DeanCas scenes this year so, there you go.

i (and others) can have realistic expectations while also being excited and speculating. last time i checked, fandom was supposed to be fun and exciting. like i know people around here wanna try and make it not fun by being mean, but again, you can be excited and fun while also being realistic.

Looks like Ruthie is banking on future Samwitch exchanges.
I don’t necessarily ship them, perse, but I’ve spoken often on the narrative value to make her Sam’s offset atop their mutual understanding of each other’s trauma, and she can add great story pillaring merit to balance things beyond just throwing Sam as chief over greyface NPCs. Which I mean, cool story element and all but I like him having outward pull. I’ve said for a while that Rowena could be his next Ruby, be it relationship or just story anchoring, so here’s for me being hopeful with Ruthie too.
If you’re reading Destiel out of metas that don’t even discuss Destiel or bi-Dean, such as independent or growing brother metas, or team free will parenting Jack, or current active major plot mechanics, or basic states of address on surrounding environments or basic events transcribed act-for-act, maybe it’s not the people typing these things without even talking about Destiel or Castiel that you have the problem with.
