One of those great seemingly throwaway but actually incredibly important moments is Cas telling the hunter where to find spell ingredients, right down to the exact room, drawer, and how it’s labeled. Combined with how Cas has slowly, the canon sneaking up on Cas, made Cas a fixture at the bunker. He not only lives there. He knows where stuff is. He doesn’t need to sleep, maybe he organized the drawers of spell ingredients himself, or maybe someone else did it, but Cas knows it like the back of his hand. He knows the bunker. It’s his home, because that’s where his family is.

Plus you know when Sam and Cas label things and do this kinda stuff they do it properly, working as a team and totally in sync in the way they work, whereas when they do it with Dean he’s the one who labels things “gross stuff” while they both roll their eyes at him and glance at each other with indulgent smiles.

Accurate. Also even if Sam organized the drawers, Cas’s detailed knowledge of where everything is is very telling. But yeah I think Sam and Cas maybe did it together or sleepless Cas, wandering the bunker at night, finds projects for himself. Also…Dean’s been missing for weeks and Cas and Sam could easily have been doing obsessive over-organizing as a coping tool for their worry. Sam wasn’t sleeping either just due to worry. Oh no, now I’m thinking about Sam and Cas finding each other wandering the bunker in the middle of the night, during times they weren’t each out there following a lead, both full of Dean worry and looking haunted at each other and did they join forces organizing stuff because it helped soothe them and maybe they talked about Dean.
in all seriousness, firstly i hope s14 makes our sastiel bro bonding dreams come true.
secondly:
can you imagine the both of them trying to worry more about the other’s emotional health (and physical health)? “how are you holding up?” “i’m fine. are you ok? what can i help with?” until they both kind of have enough of the “i’m fine”s from each other because they know the other is holding it in.
and sam is trying to be the supportive bro like with dean last season because another mourning husband is in his family but he’s not sure how to make cas feel better because the dean winchester coping mechanisms aren’t typically his (they only are when he has nothing to distract him and no one to help him) and they definitely aren’t cas’s, he’s sure of that.
and cas is trying to be the same because he knows how intertwined sam and dean’s lives are and so he tries to be supportive the only way he think he’s good for: working around the clock to find dean and find a plan to save him.
also things i’m excited for: HUNTING! COPARENTING JACK! IMAGINE THE POSSIBILITIES
I just kind of want to start an open floor thread for people to reblog and tell me all the things that make them happiest about the potential for Sam and Cas to finally start bonding past Dean. I mean, I love Dean-Cas, and we’ve had some Sam-Cas before but it’s always so swift. And yes, we want Dean back, and whatnot, but… this is a new opportunity to explore these two without Sam just being wedged between eyeball sparring and whatever else and I’m incredibly happy about it, and want to hear EVERYONE’S ideas of their hopes, wants, and whatever else about this (likely short, but THERE) plot arc.

I want to see Sam and Cas hunting together. Like if the season can open with a montage of those two just working off each other, that’d be awesome. I want to see Sam supporting Cas and Jack as they grow into their own as hunters. And maybe the two of them sitting around the war room drinking beer and talking about Dean and the AU hunters, and heaven dying. Like talk about the things that hurting them, kind of deal.

I’m hoping that they get to work over their plans to save Dean, to help Jack cope with losing his powers together, for Sam to tell Cas to stay safe on a mission stuff, that he doesn’t want to lose him too, stuff like that.
This is Dean-related but totally Sam/Cas. I want Cas to talk to Sam about how much he’s (Sam) changed, how he’s no longer the doomed little brother that always needs saving, how far he’s come and grown as a person, separate from Dean. I want Cas to tell Sam it’s okay to desire a life outside of hunting, a life of his own making (some day when SPN ends in 30 years) versus the life Dean sucked him back into. And I want Sam and Cas to get a puppy while Dean is gone
I’d like them to talk about their grief. I mean, poor Sam had to repress his grief last season and will likely do the same next season, so some emotional talk sessions will be nice.
We all seem to be on the same page: working out their damages, working together, developing a healthier balance to their relationship, recognizing their achievements; are there any specific PLOTLINES anyone’s hoping for, even if it’s in complete crack theory right now?
not really a theory so much as i want there to be literal guinea pigs in the bunker (so technically just plain crack)
in terms of plot…. idk i really want a hunt with them where it’s just off the wall weird. maybe something that feeds off the strain of their relationship not having a chance to fully form. and the one that figures it out is jack. maybe because they’re having an angst off? idk i just really want something goofy that helps them forget their pain for a short time (AND OURS TOO).

fr tho i have been WAITING for them to get a chance to be the bros we know they are. THEY LOVE EACH OTHER TOO, DAMN IT. and this may come to a shock to some of you that i, someone with the url casgirlsam, am so in love with their friendship
in no particular order, what i’m excited for (after the cut i’m sorry no i’m not):
–FEELINGS TALK they’ve always been more open to sharing emotions and being honest with each other, so i want them to actually talk about how dean being possessed is affecting them. and jared did mention something to that effect, so i’m trying hard not to have my expectations up super duper high (his description wasn’t all… descriptive).
–COPARENTING they seem to be more on the same page to start this season than sam and dean were (grief is one hell of a drug) and i know they’ll do what they can to keep jack stable. and i’m hoping that they both learn more about themselves through that experience *cough*cas knowing he’s wanted for him not his powers*coughcoughcough*
–HUNTING like seriously. i’ll even take sam&cas&jack hunting trip. i can’t think of a time they actually worked a case with just them. it’s always been dean somewhere in there and i love the man, BUT COME ON
–LOOKING OUT FOR EACH OTHER we know sam is going to be messed up emotionally, he always is when dean is missing, and cas is feeling likewise. i want them to actually push each other. like in s9 when cas said he’s fine and sam insisted, “you’re a terrible liar.” they need to lean on each other and help each other.
