Must be weird for you… looking at me and seeing him.

Yeah…

THIS MADE ME UNREASONABLY ANGRY AND HURT AND I JUST NEEDED TO HUG HIM OH MY GOD I THINK I WAS LITERALLY LIKE “MY POOR BABY” OUT LOUD NEXT TO SHEA.

Look IDGAF if someone likes or doesn’t like Mark but this is just one of the most unnecessary patchwork plot covers for BuckLeming and Mark P’s gratuitous engagement to keep writing on him because they “like” him. It is COMPLETELY unnecessary to be pushing Sam through this on top of everything, it’s a completely lazy loophole excuse that will make a lazy resolution later and I’m just

MY SAMMY

WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO HIM

Dabb may have written the episode but we *quite literally know* it’s Leming with the Mark P fetish so I’m still putting the burden of this being involved on them.

i screamed “NO WHY WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT” in my empty apartment so loud, i’m surprised no one called the cops to check on me

and you are SPOT ON. i’m trying to to think positively and add this to my pile of “sam has a strong compassionate soul” evidence, but it HURT. why put sam through the wringer like this when he’s already down from his brother being held hostage and missing by a different archangel??? WHATS THE POINT????

bucklemming need to let their hard-on for mark p die because it’s at the expense of one of their main characters NEEDLESSLY.

Okay, so you know what drives me nuts?  When people (particularly the haters) use Sam’s and Castiel’s first meeting as proof that Castiel is a dick who hates Sam.

I mean…that is either a deliberate misinterpretation of that scene, or people are for some reason not getting it.

Most importantly, it establishes Castiel’s rebellious/too-much-heart nature before his character was even planned to be on the show for more than a few episodes.

You see…Sam greets him in full on puppy-mode:

And Castiel does look a little Uriel-ish:

And then he takes Sam’s hand:

And looks up and calls him the “boy with the demon blood:”

Which, yeah, if it was left at that, total dick.

BUT!

Then Castiel does this:

Castiel acknowledges that he knows everything about Sam.  That he’s “corrupted” and an “abomination,” a nasty mud monkey that Uriel doesn’t even want to be in the same room with.  And what does he do?

He puts his hand on top of Sam’s, an intimate gesture, showing that he is not afraid or unwilling to touch him.  That he thinks Sam is still a good person and that he deserves God’s (and all angels’) love.

I mean, Sam’s own father suggested Dean might have to kill him, and Castiel accepts him and lets him know that not everyone thinks he’s beyond saving.

LIKE.  DO YOU SEE HOW AMAZING CASTIEL IS?  DO YOU SEE HOW LOVING?

He’s better than a cinnamon roll.

He’s a made from scratch Christmas morning orange roll.

Always big heart… oh Cas

Omg YES. His first ten seconds with Sam: You are valid.

His first ten seconds with Dean: Validated (or at least is surprised enough by Dean’s reservations to challenge the fact) that he deserved saving.

Cas, my beautiful angel with the big, beautiful heart!

Castiel, Angel of the Lord could see directly into their souls, saw what good people they were and validated/comforted both of them re: their biggest fears, Sam: being more/other than just the boy with the demon blood, Dean: deserving to be saved and good things happening to him.

Almost like he was an expositional character at that point…

*tink stares into the camera*

He was, in comparison to all the other Angels they met, extremely kind to them even though his mission was literally just to get them ready to be meatsuits.

His openness is what led him to realise what was wrong with Heaven and led to his fall.

Too much heart was always Castiel’s problem best asset.
