A new survey arises!

So I’m not sure who started this, but I guess knowing that would defeat the point. It’s not quite as extensive as, say, the tumblr fandometric but multiple datapoints are awesome and whatnot. Check it out, takes maybe 5 mins tops. Character and ship preferences as well as content type and platform. I got linkdropped it on twitter, dunno where it is here, or IF it’s here so… here.

DAMNIT TUMBLR

intelligentshipper:

I had a beautifully tongue-in-cheek written review of 14.06 I punnishly wrote about c0*k because of the roosters everywhere and you RUINED IT. It’s NOT MY FAULT an episode featuring roosters was directed by a man named RICHARD who named the establishment after the SHORTHAND OF HIS NAME.

I just went back and changed all the horrible pee pee jokes to the word rooster. Hopefully they don’t illegalize Richard’s shorthand name on tumblr.

Points if I get declined because of Richard’s name or because of the shape of the red rooster

“i can’t do simple hygiene bc im depressed”
that’s easy babe! just do simple hygiene

Y’all always have to wallow in your misery instead of considering maybe, just maybe, the encouragement people like this give is just telling people to do one, easy thing instead of worrying about a whole routine. Can’t make yourself shower? That’s fine, just brush your teeth. Don’t have the energy to do your hair? Okay, just brush your teeth.

Making 1 small change that can start improving your mood leads to other small changes. When I couldn’t make myself shower I would make sure I changed underwear every day. And then I started using baby wipes to keep myself fresh. And then I worked my way back to trying to take showers every day. My record might not be perfect but I’m getting better.

It’s really unhealthy to keep the mindset that anyone who isn’t miserable and suffering under their mental illness or emotional problems doesn’t know what they’re talking about. Maybe they’ve just grown to learn how to love and care for themselves in spite of what they’re going through.

Yeahhhh I don’t trust that someone saying “we all get depressed” truly knows what they’re talking about

These things aren’t always possible– no, not even something as simple as dental care.

It isn’t encouraging to tell someone to do something they literally can’t do.

ok so “we all get depressed” is a fair criticism

HOWEVER, my own therapist, ya know, a PROFESSIONAL, has said things like this. why? because it’s TRUE.

YES, it’s hard. literally everyone that has more than “YAASSS” in the comments on this post have said that. i myself have had problems doing small things sometimes. but you know what? doing something as small as eating or drinking or brushing your teeth leads the way to doing other things. one small thing can actually make you feel more yourself. it’s literal basic self-care.

i seriously can’t with y’all on this site. he’s giving great advice and y’all throwing him under the bus because “NOT EVERYONE CAN DO THAT DUMBASS”

For you, in your situation. It’s not universally applicable

oooh the backfire effect in action nice
