Because antis are looking to win an argument, not actually represent a population. It’s literally common studied knowledge, even outside of SPN, that in non-sports, primetime genre fandom, women have a far higher engagement ratio per capita even in theoretically male dominated viewership shows (which are rare to begin with.) Our target demo, of our younger generation true target viewership (18-34) is almost double female to male in demo – which, in actual raw headcount, females watch primetime at a 2-to-1 ratio to men, so that’s 4x the amount of women, and younger fans are also more likely to engage digitally. So we have a base 4-to-1 female-to-male viewership, then a nearly 4x inflation of actual online engagement, so no shit sherlock, lots of women are talking about these things.
It’s not that the men don’t exist, it’s just that they don’t actively engage in online fandom to the same capacity, but that also doesn’t mean their opinion is invalid, which is why I hold to the gender percentiles on things like the census. Queer men ranked equally in percentile interest in, say, Destiel, to queer women (straight women panned considerably lower.) So just because their raw engagement value is lower doesn’t mean that by percentile they should be dismissed out-of-hand just because, say, you found that one shiny pokemon of a queer guy that Hates A Certain Thing. Queer aren’t borg, we shouldn’t be expected to have universal likes and dislikes and it’s okay to not have strong favor towards a particular thing. Trying to wave around “I have a gay friend that hates it” is tantamount to “I have a black friend.” It’s bigoted and using people as tokens to win your debate, rather than observing as close to a communal concensus as we have available. And if someone doesn’t fit that concensus, that’s fine, your opinion and preferences don’t have to be the majority.
The long and short of it: people are gross, they really aren’t fighting to give a shit about the queer community, they’re just fighting to win and employing their anecdotal situations to be gross as fuck and win an argument about things they don’t like.

Look, you all know I don’t even do cake and pie metaphors but this on top of Dick stacking cake and pie next to the red rooster Dean deflected kind of makes me want to turn inside fucking out.
