Roses are red, that much is true, but violets are purple, not fucking blue.

I have been waiting for this post all my life.

They are indeed purple,
But one thing you’ve missed:
The concept of “purple”
Didn’t always exist.

Some cultures lack names
For a color, you see.
Hence good old Homer
And his “wine-dark sea.”

A usage so quaint,
A phrasing so old,
For verses of romance
Is sheer fucking gold.

So roses are red.
Violets once were called blue.
I’m hugely pedantic
But what else is new?

And meanings they drift

But the word purple

You’ve given short shrift.

The concept of purple,

My friends, is old

And refers to a pigment

once precious as gold.

By crushing up molluscs

Meant that in Rome,

to wear purpura

was a privilege reserved

For only the emperor!

The word ‘purple’,

for clothes so fancy,

Entered English

By the ninth century

Why then are voilets

Not purple in song?

The dye from this mollusc,

known for so long

Is almost magenta;

More red than blue.

The concept of purple

is old, and yet new.

The dye is red,

So this might be true:

Roses are purple

And violets are blue

.

While this song makes me merry,
Tyrian purple dyes many a hue
From magenta to berry
And a true purple too.


But fun as it is to watch this poetic race
The answer is staring you right in the face:
Roses are red and violets are blue
Because nothing fucking rhymes with purple.

what can we do?

I usually say reblog my art so I can get work

but I took it all down because of hate

or donate to my ko-fi?

but that feels so cheap to me and I hate asking for tips when I’m literally producing grief and ugliness and nothing beautiful

So I don’t know anymore

What would you do?

I think you have every right to ask for tips when you’ve been giving us incredible art for free for years, and gotten back little but grief and abuse. If you started a Patreon I’d be glad to sign up for it.

You may know Elicia as Euclase, and you’ve definitely seen and loved her art. 

The amount of cruelty and harassment she receives on a daily basis is unspeakable and unforgivable, and honestly, I think the least we can do is send her a tip to, in some small way, try and help her through this misery. 

If you can afford it, please go and donate $3 or more and say something kind to let her know you care and you appreciate her work. If you have a PayPal account, it will only take a few seconds.

And please, for the love of God, do not send her hate or criticize her. If you’re not here to support her, shut the fuck up and mind your own business.

I’m not going to send her hate, or be rude to her in any way. She blocked me so she shouldn’t see this at all. 

She has been incredibly rude to me personally while I have never in my life said anything negative to her or about her. I was always on her side sending love and support and fighting off haters and being nice. I believed that all the hate she got was real and horrible and I needed to help her and do something. I did for years, even though I have never gotten a single message or appreciation in return. 

Until she hijacked one of my posts and started insulting me for no reason. She called me names, insulted me several times, then deleted all those posts, blocked me, and, as I’ve heard, started vague posting about me afterward, playing the victim.  

I had not said anything about her in that post. The post literally mentioned that I love every single creator in the destiel fandom. That’s all that was in there. And she turned it into a negative post about how everyone is horrible to her and directed it towards me as a person, as if I, someone who supported and loved her for years before, represented her haters (or as she calls it; the destiel fandom, because we all hate her in her eyes.)

No, she does not deserve the hate that she actually gets from people. No, she does not deserve to die or whatever if that’s bullshit people tell her. 

But she is not a nice person, to put it very lightly. She hurt me and a lot of other people I know that did nothing, and I repeat nothing wrong.  

@inacatastrophicmind @livebloggingmydescentintomadness i care about you both and understand if you want to get pissed at me now, but if you don’t believe me like this, I do have evidence that I can show. 

Yes, whoever is angry now can be blind and block me. That is up to you, and not my problem. I just know that what I say is honest and that I do not respect her anymore. 

The following things are true:

  • Euclase is a fantastic artist
  • However, Euclase gets a variety of negative anon messages
  • Unsure of where to direct her anger, she sometimes turns it on her supporters
  • She has been very vicious to some people who have been nothing but kind to her
  • It is anyone’s right to continue to support her due to valuing her art, which takes time and skill
  • However, jimminovak is a good bean and one of the people who have caught her ire

I highly suggest people continue to follow jimminovak and respect if people choose not to donate to Euclase. And if you still want to donate to Euclase – that’s great, she does great work for the fandom. But also a “do be warned” for people for the future.

All of the above things can be true at the same time. 🙂 I just wanted to give to support to rose since I know her opinion is very valid and I know some people may not understand this from the outside.
