Hyperarousal is a primary symptom of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).   Being overly sensitive to sounds is one of the symptoms.

I have this and in my opinion, Jared’s portrayal is pretty damn accurate.

1. I love this post, it’s very accurate, as someone who has very similar responses, and it’s another reason I correspond so closely with him, in a long list.

2. However, this came on when “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” had rolled up on a youtube list and somehow these gifs in combination, especially the first three, became hypnotic for all the wrong reasons and I literally had to turn off my music to really absorb this for what I knew it was because wow, mood clash.
