A thought on actor-endorsed ships and shipwars resulting.

So I had a thought.

This is kinda wanky discussion points on ships, but a thing about actors that have made supporting statements or negative or whatever else since it’s forever thrown into question.

Yes, this. And something that doesn’t get pointed out enough is how badly the anti-destiels treat Jensen.

Read the post I reblogged please and think about what you’re doing before you reinforce phrases like “Jensen is uncomfortable” or “keep your ship away from Jensen.” Jensen is perfectly fine. Jensen is having a good time with Destiel shippers. Jensen is a pretty complex person, by my observation of what we get to see of him, what he lets us see, he’s intelligent, he’s empathetic, he genuinely cares about fans of all kinds, and he’s not the one-note people keep constantly trying to flatten him to, and he certainly isn’t hateful the way the anti-destiel stans desperately want him to be as they reject all reality that disproves their hypothesis about him.

And a few more thoughts behind the cut

Oh, there’s no doubt, they treat him terribly. I tried to highlight it in my discourse but honestly, to truly underscore the abuse that lane applies against him in conscious vindictive warfare while lamenting the “evol Destihellers”, consciously rebelling against his wishes and restraints – I’d be here writing a 200 page thesis.

I understand you pitching your post behind a read more but I just feel the need to have more of this from your post be broadcast in case someone may gloss-over, so truncated notes of vivid nodding and agreement:

They’re insulting to Jensen. It’s denigrating to him. It assigns some real-world level biases anti-destiel fans have to him that he doesn’t have, it insults him by assuming he is so delicate, so easily shocked, that he cannot handle the slightest bit of shipping fun because he might faint […] have you ever seen Jensen, his cheery raunchiness, his mischievous bent, his sexual jokes…and he voluntarily will destiel or cockles, of his own volition (and seems not to mind at all having that kind of fun with his friend Misha). […] Anti-destiels furiously and tirelessly target squee most often and a peaceful relationship between Jensen and the Destiel loving or Destiel sympathetic part of fandom which is…well, most of the fandom, shippers and peaceful non-shippers who don’t ship it but understand. They target and want to knock out any friendliness between Jensen and Destiel shippers. And if he’s just too friendly to Destiel shippers, then they turn on Jensen himself.

Yes. All of this. And all within the same theme-and-reason of the OP. Yes.
