So for those of you who follow me, or at least have for a while, you’ve probably caught me on-occasion hinting or talking lightly about other work. I’ve tried to keep my blog SPNcentric in my posts, but I have a decent chunk of followers and a message I *would* like the world to see.
So let me start this off: I’m honestly not a fan of the CW on a corporate level, and had pretty much sworn off every other CW show but SPN. But then, well… see… things happened. Great people – independent people – got given a chance. If you want to see what my heart has gone into beyond the cultish allure of Supernatural, or wonder why there’s been an actress frequently tagging me on twitter, or just want to give a new show a shot and an independent studio that is getting its first big break a look at… please, read below the cut.
1. arrow storm is full of the nerdiest sweetest sweet peas ever
2. sonalii is no exception and she’s a bamf
3. you want a fantasy story without the triggers of got? the outpost has gotchu. some other great things about it:
- two of the four leads are women and one is a poc
- it takes fantasy and other tropes and flips them on their head. tired of the same love triangle? they got it. tired of strong women being loner assholes who discover the power of romantic love? bam
- one of the characters is inferred to be on the autism scale because that is how the actor is playing them
- if you like supernatural’s theme of found family and family don’t end with blood, you’ll love this (cw is the found family network apparently and i’m ok with this)
- most of the cast and tptb are giant super geeks. i followed jake stormeon before i started watching the show because he plays magic: the gathering, true story
- at the outpost, it’s very matriarchal and the main villain is the patriarchy pm like dred is every misogynistic thought come to life
give it and arrowstorm’s other projects a go.
(oh and for those interested, sonalii is going to be watching 13×23 on wednesday)
