Ohh the #CWCharmed is full of hate in Twitter. This doesn’t surprise me, it was expected and its more expected that maybe only will last one or two seasons if The CW is crazy enough to renew it.
The running joke is that the CW will air anything for at least 3 seasons, so a show’s ratings have to be really bad to get canceled after 1.
Now, we just have to see if those screaming on social media truly matter versus the general audience who’ll still give it a chance.
Well, it has to hit the Blutarski (0.0) to cancel a show LOL
Oh my god, I was just about to look at the official twitter account for Charmed, and only just realized it premiered tonight.
Well, then. Let’s get scrollin’.
Lol
Neither do I remember it, it was until @intelligentshipper published it on Twitter.
Bruhs just scroll the hashtag it is AWFUL. Like 4/5 tweets are negative. Despite CW paying for 24 hour top rank promoted tweet and ads out the wazoo the second you turn off your adblocker anywhere, it trended #5, or, in comparison, at the level of The Outpost season finale. Now, I love The Outpost. But I also recognize The Outpost is a 9P CW Summer Show from an independent studio that receives next to no advertising from CW, to the point they once posted a promo on/for the wrong day and nobody blinked. I’m interested to see what happens to the actual live ratings and see what goes down there. I won’t be able to track digital until the annual release. If ratings are shit live, they can fall on +3 or digital, but I’m not seeing a lot of great digital buzz for it, which is what tends to parallel digital calls. The only money they’re making off of live tweets right now is from people who don’t realize the hashtag earns the CW money and are yelling about how awful it is.
I projected a two year downward spiral for Charmed and by Pedowitz stubborness a third may be possible. Considering they renewed/extended/ordered more episodes before the pilot ever aired, I’m going to hold to that.
Also by comparison, Wayward, which was a backdoor pilot, and got minimal official post (relegated to the official account’s reach, no paid advertisement or hashtag paid-push), mostly articles on independent websites, trended #1-4 both US and worldwide for half a day.
I’m just sayin’…
Honestly, your last paragraph on how they treated Wayward’s backdoor pilot VS the Charmed reboot makes it even more obvious Pedowitz and Co. weren’t gonna support the former.
Tell me I’m wrong, I don’t wanna be sad. 😦
You’re half-wrong. CW doesn’t pay for most shows to be promoted all day like this. There’s a lot of shit that airs that doesn’t get that. I can only hazard either trying to hook old Charmed fans that live under a rock, or being a little bit in the desperate zone with the heavy negative buzz and bad screener reviews.
However, from all the handling I saw, I’m pretty sure CW wanted it to flop, expected it to flop, had it in their heads it would flop, and when it was a staggering success were left embarrassed and looking for options. Plec was a cheaper answer after CBS already force fed WB-CW to handle Charmed for a second go to (since they tried a reboot like 4-5 years ago.) I think they were banking on a failure in general, but the lack of promoted tweets/ads isn’t entirely atypical.
