okay, im seeing a lot of posts about the continuity errors in the premiere, and i have a weak hypothesis about why cass was, well, why our angel boi has been weak as shit lately.

y’all remember last season when cass met with not-dead-naomi and had a nice chat about how heaven was failing because there were so few angels? and further back to about season 4, when he said his powers were failing because his connection to heaven was severed? 

what if the reason he’s not at normal angel strength is because it’s not just the fact that his connection with heaven is weak, but that heaven itself is falling? i think that would absolutely have an impact on his abilities, if the source of his power to begin with was falling apart and shutting down. in which case, the whole deal would make sense in the situation… 

okay, maybe not the “not being able to see the demons” issue, but nearly everything.

Honestly that’s been the only spec that’s made tangible sense to me that wasn’t just a solid dose of mechanically enacted metaphor, so yeah – I’m in the same boat. But right now I’d love for them to textualize a reason instead of leaving us to headcanon super rubber bouncy ball Caspower.
