Salty Megstiel fan says all my metas are about Destiel as their justification for assuming talk about Rachel’s possible return is from hating Meg as a Destiel fan.
I’m going to guess they missed all of these which is the majority of my meta.
Or like, are they implying production and ratings history around Misha is Destiel, I wonder?
Considering my blog is more a demographics blog than standard story meta, I wonder: Beyond the recent Destiel sales shirt questions and the occasional kickup when an idiot tries to claim the ship is a minority against all logic, are all of these posts Destiel?
I mean, I guess I did a mixtape label and “my view of Destiel” meta. Which, fascinatingly, needed its own post, because I generally don’t meta them that much. I mean, I pointed to some scripting before. And I made a few points about the definition of subtext or statements swept under a rug. Given, I also made a post about subtext in thematics that had next-to-nothing to do with Destiel beyond the wank the Megstiel shippers were dragging in my friends’ doors uninvited, in a show of blazing irony.
I mean, I guess if you want to read me addressing that Cas is occasionally a grounding mechanism for Dean as Destiel meta, there’s this. Or this thing about Sam and Dean’s relationship getting less toxic. Considering I didn’t make that about Destiel, and instead about an improved relationship in Sam and Dean, that’s a pretty wild thing to pull on. Y’all seeing Destiel out of everything more than I do, at this point.
There’s when I point out very obvious dialogue offsets, including this conversation where a friend brings up when she saw me start shipping it myself recently, which is new?
So let’s see… one quick roll through of my meta tag gives me… six Destiel related metas, if you include script point-outs and brief dialogue side by sides, as well as… like, definitions and why it’s ridiculous to use certain words dismissively. Like, three are explorative metas, but hey. I’ll give all six and be generous.
That’s to… 13 other topics, notwithstanding that my primary meta is under the four linked tags above, but not tagged directly meta, of which only a bare bottom few topics (beyond/before shirt blowout) are actually even adjacent to Destiel, and of which there’s like 30 posts on. If you think a-generous-6 vs 40+ is what makes “mostly”, even while I frequently joust with other Destiel shippers about too much presumed metaphor in readings… is what makes a majority or bulk? No wonder that side of the fence is confused about fandom majorities.
In fact, my #sam winchester #dean winchester #castiel, #j2m and #team free will tags all have more posts tagged (each, in their independent pages, not total) than my #destiel post but you know. Logic.
But sure, fam. We’ll just erase my routine set & filming stalking, return or character speculation, and broad topic meta reviews like the reaper retcon or angel humanization in general and pretend anyone wanting to know about Rachel coming back is just for ship wank purposes.
And Megstiel shippers wonder why their wing of the fandom is so small. Try not being aggressive and presumptuous as fuck with anyone even looking in your direction.
Y’all come at me, IDGAF.
