all i have seen of 14×01 is some badass cas gifs and that Very Gay Thing. and people complaining that cas can’t see the demons/can’t fight. like i said i haven’t seen the episode but how about it’s because of, well… dean?

Yesssssss…this was a theory I had and was going to follow up on when my ridiculous self didn’t have to be at work in 6 hours. But…remember at the start of S10 when Cas was fading fast and nearly human? Yes, it was his stolen grace not taking to his body, definitely. But what it it was also missing Dean?

“Pining” actually originally meant starving. So when you were pining for someone you were hungering, starving for them. So when we talk about “pining Cas” we’re actually saying he’s starved for Dean–which I think he is. It could definitely affect his powers. I kind of hope so.

!!! yes yes and three times yes. i do feel like, if dabb decided on this, he did it on purpose and i just hope that it’ll be spoken about later. still have to watch the ep but i mean, an episode where dean and cas are connected at the dick everything is already gay anyway

really interested to see if there’s any possibilities in interpreting it all

fuck it one last thing.

remember our lord and savior, end!cas? he lost his grace/powers overtime as well, again, inherently because of dean. dean was there but he changed immensely.

cas changed with dean so much he went human in canon already, just sayin ¯_(ツ)_/¯

As romantic as the sentiment is and as pro DeanCas as I am, I’d say that sentiment is more metaphorically accurate than it is in canon law. However, the same concept can remain.

Endverse!Cas – who yes, chose his path because of Dean – stayed behind as the angels pulled away and it’s like the connection to the divine spheres tanked and he went mortal.

That can still theoretically be applied here, with only a tiny handful of angels remaining, a few more dead since, and heaven barely keeping the lights on. Imagining them fueling out a long term power source is… actually kind of ridiculous. He could very well be on the Endverse!Cas path right now.

That said, it’s still sloppy of them to have presented the whole thing the way they did and we can hope to get answers soon (rather than it be overlooked.) For as much forced exposition as they shoved out of Mary’s mouth, a simple “Cas has been draining” wedged in there wouldn’t have been any worse even if we explained it later.

Add in, yes, long term separated from Dean as his charge, hard to say.

We’ll see, I guess.
