But 3 though – I’m definitely reserving judgement for the premiere lol. We know that Luci is dead in canon, but Nick could be another character or iteration entirely.

The most viscerally painful part of this for me, however? 

(He’s gotta be talking to Dean, here. Dean is now the passenger instead of the driver. They had a deal, and the Archangel broke it *ooffff*)

The self-hating irony. It’s all led to this.

Broken!Dean with free will vs Broken!Dean with no free will. And the fact of the matter is that years of neglect has culminated into what we’re seeing right now…guilt-riddled and long-running depression coupled with extreme desperation from 13×23 manifested itself when he did the penultimate wrong thing for the right reasons: Michael!Dean. 

Dean has to look in the mirror and fight back. He has to look in the mirror and distinguish what he wants from what he needs. He has to look in the mirror and LOVE what he sees so that he can break free.

Here we come, CATHARSIS!

RELEASE ME!!! As @thetwistedwillow​ and I discussed this phrase is basically the key (or, if you prefer, the leitmotif) of Season 13. As you said “Dean Winchester must die so he can live.”
