tinkdw:

Let’s play a game of Dean & Cas or Bert & Ernie

– people have read them as a queer relationship for years

– those who say so publicly are ridiculed

– BUT THEYRE STRAIGHT

– WHY CANT TWO MEN BE FRIENDS

– every other pairing who act like a couple are confirmed to be a couple no problem (they’re straight) but THIS one is problematic and stays quiet for years. I wonder why.

– writer makes it clear he’s writing it hella gay because that’s how he interprets it and has layered that in himself. network says nope they’re not gay don’t be ridiculous we’re not homophobic but that’s a stupid interpretation and never meant to be (even tho the writer told us so – ok destiel doesn’t have a writer tweeting that they did but come on u only have to watch Dabb’s episodes to see he’s clearly mirroring Violet/David with Dean/Cas and all the rest. He’s writing it as a romantic relationship).

– fans are divided by it

– homophobia runs wild with all the reasons why they can’t be queer

– this is only encouraged by the network nay saying the writers own words that he wrote them as queer

– queer fans and those who hoped to get representation are bolstered by the writing but then angered and upset by the network failing to treat them with respect by saying that this is literally the only pairing that makes sense on the show that isn’t real – they’re not queer

– queer fans feel baited and used then thrown away when it doesn’t suit the network’s agenda

– misha is the one who stands up for those fans, for equality and against homophobia even if he can’t do much he does what he can and throws shade like a boss

Moral of the story if your writer writes a character as queer don’t come out as a network exec and say they aren’t because that’s a step too far in interpretation and fans who do so are stupid.
