Okay I’ve tried to keep this blog as fandom wank free as possible (and it’s tumblr, so that’s it’s own challenge). If you’re a TAW stan, move on and don’t even start. If you’re someone he’s hurt, offended, or attacked in the past, or you know someone he’s done this to, or you’re just tired of his sh*t:
I’m putting out a general notice. And this isn’t one of those “I think it might maybe” or “he’s mildly pissing around on his facebook” trivial alerts. I know I sound like I’m trying to be some kind of ITK asshat, but I literally can’t tell you what I know, or how I know. Some people will make assumptions it’s based off of previous half-info or assumptions.
But there’s a lot – and I mean a lot – of issues I’ve watched slowly stacking while I tried to ignore his meddling for as trivial as he normally is, and I can tell you right now:
– Be alert
– Watch the #blacklisttaw hash on twitter
– If you want to be involved, make sure to report findings to the hash
– Be careful with yourselves
– Don’t engage with suspicious numbers or accounts.
– Be especially careful in Charlotte.
– Be careful what you say to who if they’ve never made a bold statement against him. If they’ve floated a line of suspicious pleasantry, be cautious.
– Check where your funds are really routing if you are donating to or purchasing from anyone in our current fandom climate (that’s a general statement, but needs reinforced right now).
– Read between the lines on my suggestions here and start piecing bits of it together, but if you do, don’t comment except in 1-v-1 DMs to pass the word to those that are tested and true to you.
It’s possible with the alarm sounded he may scale back – or he may ramp up
Other important tips:
– Whatever he DOES move on, do NOT inflate the wank like last time. Do not argue circles with him and his like, 15 fans, if it’s just going to inflate some other fake-bad-PR like before.
– Not everyone is as trustable as you may think after a few months in fandom (ironic, I know, since I’m a fairly young account). Keep a close eye on who has been tagging who and conversing with who.
– DON’T make wild accusations either, that makes it worse, but just… be very careful and watchful. I swear.
I really don’t want to have to revisit this. If it can be avoided, bless.
I’m not going to reblog or comment any further on this. I’m not going to let my feed get consumed by him on tumblr. I just want people to be reminded of what used to be standard internet safety protocol and, in many ways, we’ve grown lax in sort of assuming “SPNFamily.” While I don’t want to break that vibe, just… be careful right now everybody, okay?
No, unfortunately I can’t clarify more right now. No, it’s not any one thing. This is a cumulatory issue that’s been building for a while and I’ve been keeping an eye on it.
I don’t care if this pisses off some random person on tumblr right now. I really don’t. I care about people’s safety, I care about the crew’s safety and livelihood, and if somebody wants to flame up, flame on and flame out. You won’t get a response from me about this. Someone’s going to challenge why I’m not saying more, if someone’s gonna get incensed; just think about why someone would be operating with caution right now considering history and you’ll answer that question yourself.
This was honestly a good reminder that I needed to block someone that I just left as a follow. Thanks!
