So I’m not a huge destiel shipper, I don’t actually think it’ll become canon like some people, but I was thinking about the beginning of season 13 and how they established Dean to be way more upset about Cas while Sam was way more upset about Mary. I’m sure you’ve discussed this somewhere bit what would be the purpose of this if not setting up for Dean and Cas’ greater feelings for each other?

amwritingmeta:

Good evening, my lovely Nonny!

Okay, a thing maybe not all of you know since Destiel is mentioned twice in my blog description above: I don’t consider myself a Destiel shipper. I love the narrative of this show and I love how I see this love story of ours fitting so strongly into the progression and evolution of that narrative. Our story would be very different if Cas had never entered it. So I don’t watch the show merely for Destiel. I watch it for the complexity of the characters and all the relationships – especially between Dean and Sam. I mean, just to be clear.

And let me add it’s totally cool not to ship something, but the fact that you still see it there kind of makes me all kinds of happy, you know? 😛

Now, aside from that clarification, there is really no other way for me to reply to this than: exactly.

Exactly precisely yes this precisely this is what I’ve been writing about since the season began airing. I mean, I’ve been highlighting in my meta the purposeful setting up of Dean and Cas’ greater feelings for each other. So I earnestly cannot even attempt at giving you a broader view here and say well maybe or perhaps not or who knoooows what’s coming down the line, because I believe with everything in me that this exactly has been intentionally done, this exactly is how they’ve structured the season in order to highlight to the GA (and underline every meta writer in this fandom having been right in their meta reading of positive endgame) that Cas and Dean do share a more profound bond for a reason.

Yes indeed yes yes we like it yes we like the intention and exposition yes.

Oh it’s happening. I hope sooner rather than later. But we shall, as ever, see!

Thanks for asking, my dear, and hope this answered your question!
