“I can bring Castiel back to you.”

“No.”

“Dean, hear him out!”

Dean shook his head, squared his jaw and stormed out of the room. 

“Dean!” Sam called after him.

“I thought he would… like this news.” Jack frowned, looking more down than before.

Sam sighed, “Remember what I told you about Dean getting his wires crossed? Right now, his wires are… all over the place. I’ll talk to him.”

“If it is okay, Sam, I think it should be me that talks to him.”

Sam was hesitant but nodded solemnly.

The knock on Dean’s door was so soft that he almost didn’t hear it as he was unpacking his duffel bag.

“C’min” He grunted.

The door opened and Dean saw red, “Not you.”

Jack raised his hands in surrender, “I- I understand, you are grieving, and that I am… at fault… for the losses in your life.” He spoke slowly, assessing Dean’s reaction. Dean was still guarded, arms crossed over his chest, anger radiating off of him, but he didn’t interrupt, so Jack continued. “This is… a way for me to apologize, for everything.”

Dean snorted sardonically, “Yeah, sure.”

“You don’t believe it can be done.”

“Even if I did, I don’t trust you to be the one to do it.”

“What if I’m the only one who can?”
