Look, I was 8 years old when 9/11 happen, and although I didn’t understand most of what was happening (or why) from 2000 to 2008, I remember being terrified of Bush and Cheney. Like, even as a kid/young teen, I knew that things like “free speech zones” and “Mission Accomplished” were a fucked up way to run the country.

I remember that John Mayer released a song during the Bush Administration called “Waiting on the World to Change” that basically summed up W.’s presidency, and it made me cry because it was a reminder of how everything was messed up. I remember the first time I heard that song after Obama was elected, and I cried tears of relief in the middle of a Walgreens.

This nostalgia for Bush seriously needs to stop. And I’ve honestly only seen it from people who weren’t old enough to remember him at all. If you’re 18 or younger, there’s a ton of stuff you need to google before you go spouting off your mouth about how you “miss” him.
